… at the Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa this Valentine’s Day!
The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa has a choice of two very different treats in store for couples on Valentine’s Day, ranging from a special sunset picnic for two, to a glamorous dinner where one lucky couple will win a half carat diamond!
The five-star hotel’s award-winning Azure Restaurant will be the setting for a sparkling Valentine’s Day Dinner on Friday 14 February 2014 (R795 per person). Couples may commence the evening with a welcome drink while admiring the magnificent sunset from the restaurant’s scenic terrace before Executive Chef Christo Pretorius pulls out all the stops with a dreamy four-course candlelight dinner. As a starter Pretorius will serve Duck Galantine with brioche, foie gras mousse, apple salad and beetroot gel. This is to be followed by Ham, Egg and Pea Risotto – poached egg, pea puree, barley and prosciutto. Diners then have the option of Salmon Trout with butter, poached crayfish, butternut, white asparagus, horseradish gel, orange crumble and bisque; or Springbok Loin with mushroom tortellini, butternut, green asparagus, apricot gel, orange crumble and venison jus. Of course no Valentine’s menu would be complete without a hint of chocolate, so for dessert the Chef will whisk up a Smoked Chocolate Torte with rose mousse, cherry marmalade and coconut crumbs.
To add to the romance, all female guests will be presented with a red rose, and one very lucky couple will walk away with a sparkling half carat diamond worth more than R15 000, courtesy of renowned jeweller Uwe Koetter.
Those in search of something a little different may opt for the exclusive Valentine’s Day Sunset Picnic that is available to eight couples only. The breathtaking outdoor venue, known as ‘The Kraal’, is an old shed situated on the slopes of Table Mountain behind the hotel, and boasts mesmerising views of the Atlantic Ocean. The romantic path that leads to The Kraal via the hotel’s herb gardens and past colossal ancient Milkwood trees sets the scene for a once-in-a-lifetime evening. Hundreds of lights and candles will illuminate the picnic setting as the sun sinks into the ocean.
Couples will be welcomed with a sparkling Kir Royal and a mouth-watering picnic basket filled with savoury and sweet delights, including Fresh oysters with a citrus salsa and passion fruit gelee; Wild mushroom and goats cheese parcels; Potted duck with melba toast; Crayfish, prawn and avocado terrine; Paris-Brest heart (classic French choux pastry); and of course Chocolate dipped strawberries – to mention but a few treats! A bottle of Bouchard Finlayson Blanc de Mer perfectly complements the offering. Individually placed tables decorated with rose petals will offer romance and privacy, with diners sitting on straw bales to add to the outdoor atmosphere. The picnic is priced at R1 500 per couple. (In the event of rain the picnic will be moved to the hotel’s elegant Conservatory, complete with beautiful sea and mountain views).
Throughout February and in celebration of Valentine’s Day The Twelve Apostles Hotel will also offer a special romantic accommodation package, including an overnight stay in one of the hotel’s plush guest rooms or suites, a single stemmed red rose and a bottle of sparkling wine in the room, plus a heavenly breakfast in Azure Restaurant the next morning (from R3 690 per room per night).
For an extra touch of romance, The Leopard Bar at The Twelve Apostles will serve a special ‘Love Bug’ cocktail during the month of February – a heady concoction of Absolute vodka, kiwi and strawberry syrup, muddled with fresh limes, strawberries and kiwi fruit (R65).
Couples may also enjoy togetherness at The Spa at The Twelve Apostles, with its B| Together signature couples’ treatment – the perfect wellness treat for the month of Valentines. Rose quartz, the stone of love, is used to add positive energy to relationships, enhance compassion and forgiveness, and balance the upper four chakras, easing emotional balance. With the assistance of rose quartz crystals and B| Africa massage oil, the therapists craft the perfect massage for loved ones. The spa experience ends on a highly romantic note, with a glass of sparkling wine in the hotel’s rock pools (90min, R 1900 per couple).
